Cheryl Dotson has had a distinguished career in executive and senior management of both one of the world's largest consulting companies and large governments; as well as as an entrepreneur running her own successful consulting company. She has achieved in many in highly visible roles. She is known for leadership, accountability, serving as a trusted advisor, successful service delivery and getting results. She has always used technology and innovation to offer improved service delivery, business process reengineering and improved customer service, even in government.
Ms. Dotson’s has served as CFO for a publicly traded company in the wireless industry. As a part of executive management for the Washington, D. C., she managed the IT department and procurement while overseeing a multi-million dollar budget for management reform of the government. Her role with BearingPoint included being in charge of structuring strategic partnerships with Microsoft, Accenture, and LexisNexis. As a part of the executive management team of the City of Houston, she had oversight for 25 departments, IT, the management audit division, the communications division and worked on many initiatives such as rail. She successfully worked with the Council to pass all legislation under her tenure in a very difficult environment.
In the area of IT and innovation, she created the City's IT Department, developed and began execution on the first city-wide technology plan, developed the city's first eGovernment portal, standardized 14 email systems to one and rolled out 4000 computers to improve city-wide communication. for her clients she has performed many system design, software selection and implementation engagements. She has also performed several business process reengineering/improvement engagements.
Ms. Dotson has served as Deputy Director of Finance and Administration where she oversaw a $1.2 billion operating budget and a $4.5 billion capital budget. She developed the five-year financial plan, worked with rating agencies and financial advisors on bond issuances, worked with advisors on pension plans, revised a health benefits plan that was losing $1 million per month, among other things. She participated in a large Budgeting for Priorities engagement for the City of Dallas. She has provided financial management assistance to a number of clients.
